Hi Everyone. Sorry I have not posted for a few months. I will try to be better in 2009.
Here are some web sites with Free Plug-ins and Actions for Photoshop. The web pages are packed full of information.

60 Photoshop Tutorials for Photo Touch-Ups
The photo on my web page was made up of 12 photos that were taken of the Blue Ridge Mountains, outside of Asheville, North Carolina.
The photos were taken with a Canon 20d set to Manual and on a tripod.
The photos were all adjusted in Lightroom and then all 12 photos were opened in Photoshop CS3.
In Photoshop, I used the Photomerge function to create the panorama photo.
Photomerge is found under, File, Automate, Photomerge.
When you have Photomerge open, click on the Auto icon, and then click on Add Open files.
You will see all of the files listed in the center box. When that is done click on the OK button.
Photoshop will do the rest. This will take a few minutes.
When the photo is done, you will see one single photo on the screen. The photo will need to be cropped. After cropping you will have your panorama photo.
Adobe has just released the brand new Lightroom 2.0 for public beta.
You can download the program for use it for FREE!
It sound like you will be able to use the beta version for about a month
or two until the final version is released.
Lightroom is a great program and will do most of the photo adjustments
that photographers need to do. The program can also catalog your
photos, print, create slide shows and much more. It is a nice all
around program for photographers. The new version has offered many
improvements over version 1,
The NAPP provides general information on the new program and
has links to free online video tutorials on how to use the program.

Recently, I gave a workshop on using Photoshop CS3 to make Black and White photos. The photo below was converted using the tips that I spoke about in the workshop. As part of the workshop, I created a web page with links to information on how to create better Black and White photos. (role down to March 10, 2008)
For the photo below, I used the Black and White adjustment layer to convert it to Black and White. The Black and White settings were Red 83, Yellow 71, Green 17, Cyan 21, Blue 12, Magenta -1. I also used a Curves layer to add some contrast and did a little Doge and Burn to fix some of the hot spots and dark spots.
Below are the before and after photos:

Matt Kloskowski who is know as one of the three “Photoshop Guys”, has a nice blog on Lightroom. On Mondays, he has presets that he sets up and offerers for us to download. This Monday he had one called The “300″ Look.
I tried the preset and then did a little additional work in Photoshop.
Here is a before and after look.

So what do you think?

I have always been interested in how to turn a photo into a sketch. I have tried a few different process and have not been happy with how the looked. I think I have found a process that I like. (See photos below.)

After:

To find out how to do this process click here.
I did make a few changes to the process. First, I used the Photoshop CS3 Black and White filter to change the photo to black and white photo. Then, I used a mask to create the border edge.
I recently found a web site that has free online video training for Photoshop and some other programs. The videos are informative. Check out Wikivid.
I have created a web page with some of my favorite photography and Photoshop websites. Visit my website favorites.
Like many photographers, I like the look of black and white photography, but I also like an updated twist on the black and white photo. For a more dramatic effect, try a black and white photo with one color added. (See the photo below)
This effect is simple to do. Open the photo is Photoshop. Then use the Select Color Range function. This is found under Select, Color Range. You use the eye dropper to select your color range. Then you can use the quick mask function to refine my selection. After you have the selection that you like, you copy that to a new layer.
Now convert the photo to black and white. I like the new black and white layer function found in Photoshop CS3. This layer needs to be between the original photo and the copy of the color range selection that you created. So the layer stack should be the original photo, then the black and white layer and top layer is your color section. You should now have a black and white photo with one color.

Adobe announced that they will be offering a web based version of Photoshop that will be free. This will be a scaled down version of Photoshop that is going to compete with Google’s Picasa. The new software will be available in about six months.
